Counsellors required for working with young people across Cornwall with   The Dreadnought Centre’s Kernow Connect project.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join The Dreadnought Centre team delivering one to one counselling sessions to young people across Cornwall as part of The Dreadnought Centre’s Kernow Connect project.  This project is a needs led, referral only service, offering support to young people, aged 11+, with a specialist need, usually identified by a professional.

The Dreadnought Centre works within a person centred philosophy offering young people empathy and unconditional acceptance.  Our work is child focused and child led and we use creative arts in the widest sense, to engage young people.  Counsellors will ideally have experience in working with emotional and mental health and wellbeing and have a therapeutic qualification to a minimum of Level 4 or equivalent.  Qualifications in alternative therapies such as Play therapy and Art therapy will be considered.

Counsellors will be required to travel to a variety of locations, including schools, to deliver sessions. 

There are two contracted positions available:

One Full-time based in The West of Cornwall (job share will be considered) and one part-time, 16 hours per week, based in the North & East. 

Salary range NJC Scale point 9, (£23,194) – Scale point 12, (£24,496) depending on level of qualification and experience.  These are 12 month fixed term contracts looking to start in September 2023.
