About Dreadnought

Dreadnought operates a child centred philosophy in all it’s work, endeavouring to provide an environment of unconditional acceptance to all it’s service users.

Our ethos encompasses all the five ‘Every Child Matters’ criteria (Be Healthy, Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve, Make a Positive Contribution & Achieve Economic Well-Being).

We provide a wide range of positive role models using many trusted volunteers and staff to deliver our work, offering a positive adult / child relationship through which attitudes and behaviour can be challenged in a non confrontational way.

We seek to provide an environment where children and young people are empowered to make informed decisions in their lives if they so wish in the knowledge that they will be supported through that process.

Vetting Procedures

All volunteers and employees are subject to enhanced CRB checks every 2-3 years. In addition three referees are contacted in writing.

On beginning work with the Charity, close monitoring of suitability is observed. Before having contact with children all employees and volunteers must complete our induction training. This is re-visited by all every two years.
